Support for Computers and Networks |
| |
|
We can take
care of pretty much anything related to your computers, network
and software. We can troubleshoot, identify problems, and
take corrective action. If you have a contract with
us we'll take a proactive approach to help head situations off,
before they become problems.
Small business
networks usually grow over time with the company that owns them,
as such, they can end up in some unusual configurations,
sometimes to the detriment of performance and security. We can
prescribe changes where appropriate to make your network
simpler, more efficient, and more secure.
Please
remember, if your using your computers for business then you
want a business class operating system. We are currently
recommending Windows 7 Professional. Existing Windows XP
Professional installations are still acceptable, though somewhat
outdated. Windows 8 is still very new but initially looks
good and is showing itself to be
compatible with standard business networks. Again, be sure
to get the Professional version.
NetService
Management is
a very active with respect to hardware and we have relationships with
most of the larger manufacturers including Intel, Seagate, Microsoft, Antec, American
Power Conversion, HP, Lenovo,
Toshiba and Dell. We're work with these companies
regularly and know
how to get results from them.
In addition to
hardware and software providers, are the outside service
providers you may be using. ComCast, Verizon, Broadview,
Sprint, as well as other industry specific software vendors. We
know them as well, so when the time comes to change or correct
something, we can usually do it, faster, easier, typically
at less cost, and most
certainly with less frustration than you or your staff can. |

Give your staff
the resources they need. It's easy for a staff member to loose a lot
of time to some annoying (or worse) computer issue. Having a resource for
your people to call when they have trouble can usually get them
back on track, doing what you hired them for.
Of course, we
can figure anything out! If software is specific to your
business and you have support from the manufacturer, we can work
with them if needed to resolve issues; we do that a lot!
Intult, Vertafore, App River, Veraphone, Tri Technical Systems,
Standard Solutions, and Interactive Legal Systems to name a few. Some
applications are commonly used, as such so consider them part of the
standard set that we support and typically included in service
contracts. The Microsoft Office suite of
applications and QuickBooks are part of our standard set.
Since many of
our clients are Insurance or law offices we have experience with
a variety of programs related to those industries as well.
Additional
experience in Manufacturing, Science & research, and Sales &
marketing help us to communicate effectively with a broad range
of individuals; your staff!

Everyone is
aware of the need for firewalls and antivirus software; still, it's pretty
common for a number of things to happen leaving the user, and
business, unprotected. Subscriptions run out, periodic virus
definition files fail to be applied, the whole program gets
corrupted during an upgrade. We see all this quite regularly
and know that these issues can be annoying at the lease, and
catastrophic at worst.
A service
contract will ensure that someone is paying regular attention to
these matters. If you don't have or don't want a service
contract then plan to apply some resources to these important
protections. They require annual renewal so plan on it. Server
based antivirus programs are available, making deployment to
your network,
administration, and license management easier.
We employ
sophisticated network monitoring tools to ensure the integrity
of antivirus software, timely Windows updates, computer health
and pretty much
everything else related to your network.

Backups

Like security,
everyone understands the importance of backups. Why then is it so common to
find businesses without an adequate backup and recovery plan?
The reason is that backups are not easy to configure and
monitor, and can be difficult to test. We encourage
everyone to periodically put their backup program to this simple
test. Rename one of your critical files, then go to
yesterday's backup and try to recover the origional from the day
before. If you can't you should take action immediately.
Data loss occurs when least expected and people often don't
realize how
devastating it is until it happens.
Backup technologies
have changed considerably in the past three years. Standards have changed.
From early tape backup systems we've moved on to using attached hard
drives, network attached storage and Cloud based replication.
Often a good backup and disaster recovery plan will incorporate
more than one of these technologies.
Backups only
need to capture files that have changed, and we recommend doing
this at least on a nightly basis. Better still is to backup
a few times during the day, it can be done automatically, on the
fly, and can be done as often as every 30 minutes.
The amount
of backup protection you need depends on how much you're
willing to spend, how critical the data is, and how frequently
it changes. Don't overlook the need to have backup
copies stored off site. It's rare that it happens but if the
building burns down or floods, and there is no offsite backup
then you could loose everything. We offer a set of
solutions to meet this need.
We are
continuously evaluating devices, options and services so that we
can offer the best backup and recovery solution for your
particular needs. |
